You know it’s a slow day when the biggest piece of news is that a young player yet to break into the first team might be sent out on loan.
Still, I think it’d be good for him. While he may be one of the players due to break into the first team setup, he plays in a crowded area and his appearances may be limited to the Carling Cup, and maybe one or two games when players are injured and rested, perhaps against Darlington in the FA Cup.
A full season of competitive football (if he’d get it) would probably do him good, so Arsene, while you’re out there, why not?
In other ‘news’, there’s the same old recycled stories about Henry, with Milan this time stating the obvious by saying they want him. I’d like to win the lottery and have a car made out of jelly babies, but hey. Rosicky then steals the John Cleese award for stating the bleedin obvious with his response.
Meanwhile Cesc, who will return to Spain one day, says that his future is tied with Wenger’s. Which is fine really, given that Wenger won’t, as the same article suggests, be heading to Real Madrid this summer. He’s always said he loves the fact that the Arsenal board let him get on with job – where would he get that luxury any less than at Real Madrid? Maybe Hearts.
And just to show how desperate the journalists are getting, here’s this revolutionary line from Sky Sports, in the above non-story about Cesc:
‘Barca’s rivals Real Madrid are believed to be great admirers of the young Catalan’.
In other groundbreaking news, I think Ferraris are often red, squirrels might quite like the taste of nut, and Alan Pardew isn’t a dance teacher.
One last point – I’ve touched on it before – looking round the blogs, and the blog comments especially, there are so many negative people around who are convinced we’re doomed because Wenger hasn’t spent 50m already this summer. Get a grip people – he’s stabilising the squad right now and selling off some deadwood (Reyes). It’s only early June.
It’s going to be a long summer.
